K-to-1 images of dendrites

In 1989, S. Miklos asked which continuua are the k-to-1 image of a dendrite. Or, to state this question more precisely: Given a locally connected continuum Y, do there exist a dendrite D and a k-to-1 map f such that f maps D onto Y? The speaker relates some recent results relative to this question.
