Combinatorics of Stable Exponentials

We develop a kneading theory for the family of complex exponentials E\lambda(z) = <= \lambdaez. We use this kneading invariant to pain the picture of the bifurcation diagram for this family. In particular, we show that the stable regions (\lambda-values for which E\lambda has an attracting cycle) are ordered lexicographically.
