Kummer Congruences for higher-order Bernoulli numbers

We use elementary properties of p-adic \Gamma-transforms to obtain congruences for higher-order Bernoulli numbers and polynomials, as well as for Euler numbers and Stirling numbers of the second kind. These are analogues and generalizations of the Kummer congruences for the ordinary Bernoulli numbers.
