Unicoherence in Locally Connected Continua
by
Jonathan Hatch
University of Missouri at Rolla Graduate Student
In 1936, Eilenburg proved that a locally connected metric continuuum, X, is unicoherent if and only if all maps of X into the circle are inessential. Whyburn, in his book _Analytic Topology_, presents a different proof. We present a third proof of this theorem.
