Generalizing continuity by means of connectedness and compactness
by
Francisco G. Arenas
Coauthors: Maria Luz Puertas

Velleman proved that every realvalued real function that preserves compactness and connectedness is continuous. On the one hand we extend that result to certain topological spaces and study which hypothesis about the topological spaces are needed to obtain this characterization. On the other hand we extend that result to a weaker form of continuity. Finally we define two new kind of generalized continuous functions by means of connected and compact sets and study its relations with other weak forms of continuity and its behaviour under the operations like compositions, restrictions, graph functions and generalized products.
