The Secondary/Tertiary Interface from the Perspective of First Year Engineering Mathematics at the University of Auckland
by
Stuart Laird
University of Auckland

A participatory discussion about what skills and what abilities are transferred across this interface. Mathematics vs Algorithms - where have Mathematical Processes gone? Is the Form 7 Calculus syllabus too optimistic in its scope? The position of Female students in this course - are they always given the best advice at school? It is hoped other topics will arise in the course of the discussion. This seminar will be of particular interest to secondary teachers who teach in the senior school, and to 100 and 200 level university lecturers.

(This seminar/discussion will last 60 minutes, but will be structured to allow participants who need to leave after 30 minutes to do so.)

Date received: June 8, 1998
