Functional Differential Equations with Variable Coefficients
by

Linear functional differential equations with advanced arguments arise in numerous problems in fields such as additive number theory and mathematical biology. The research on these equations has focused primarily on the case where the coefficients are constants. Recently, functional differential equations have been used to define a probability density function in a cell growth model. In this model, the coefficients correspond to growth rates and are thus not generically constants. In this talk we investigate some solution methods for certain types of first and second order functional differential equations with variable coefficients and constant advanced arguments.
