On the Distribution of Subdominant Eigenvlaues of Random Matrices

In experiments that we have carried out in connection with the convergence of powers of nxn nonnegative matrices whose entries come from a uniform distribution on the interval [0, 1], we have observed that as n grows, the ratio of the modulus of any subdominant eigenvalue to the spectral radius diminishes. We shall devote the talk to proving results which confirm and explain these experiments
