Symmetric radicals over Noetherian rings
by

University of Wisconsin-Waukesha

Symmetric radicals over Noetherian rings are characterized in terms of stable torsion radicals, link closure of special classes of prime ideals and multiplicative properties of certain classes of two-sided ideals. Applications to weakly symmetric radicals are given. For example, over a polycentral Noetherian ring, any weakly symmetric radical is symmetric. For certain radicals, this result can be extended to polynormal Noetherian rings. Using a torsion radical defined in terms of Krull dimension, it is shown that a weakly Krull symmetric polynormal Noetherian ring is Krull symmetric.
