Carleson's Theorem on Fourier series: A new proof
by

In 1965, Carleson proved that Fourier series of square integrable functions converge pointwise. The celebrated proof introduced novel methods in the analysis of functions in the time-frequency plane. I will outline a new proof of this result. In spirit, this new method is a combination of the two known proofs, Carleson's analysis of the function, and Fefferman's subsequent proof which is an analysis of the maximal operator. It is also, in my opinion, substantially easier than these two proofs.
