Geodesics in the upper half-plane and distribution of quadratic irrationalities.

After the results on the Fourier coefficients of modular forms of weight 3/2 by Iwaniec and Duke have appeared it seemed that the classical problem on the distribution of lattice points on a one-sheeted hyperboloid is satisfactorily solved. Nevertheless, it turned out that this is not the case.
