Attractivity in a Nonlinear Difference Equation
by
Chuanxi Qian
Mississippi State University
Coauthors: John R. Graef

The authors consider the nonlinear difference equation
xn+1=\alphaxn + xn-kf(xn-k),  n=0, 1, ...
(1)
where
\alpha in (0, 1), k in {0, 1, ... }  and  f in C1[[0, \infty), [0, \infty)]  with f'(x) < 0.
They give sufficient conditions for the unique positive equilibrium of (1) to be a global attractor of all positive solutions. The results here somewhat easier to apply than previously known ones. An application to a model of blood cell production is given.
