Valuations on Quantum Algebras
by
Freddy Van Oystaeyen
University of Antwerp (UIA)

Whereas valuations on the centre of a finite dimensional skewfield do not extend to the skewfield this does hold for the fields of fractions of certain quantumgroups or quantized algebras e.g. Weyl fields, Sklyanin algebras etc... The characteristic property yielding this nice behaviuor is the ``good reduction'' of defining relations for the algebra. Some particularly interesting covers suggest a possible divisor calculus applicable in so-called noncommutative geometry.
