Dynamical Entropy via Approximation

We will present the main ideas behind Voiculescu's approximation approach to entropy for automorphisms of operator algebras. This approach makes sense in many different contexts, but we will concentrate on our recent notion of topological entropy for automorphisms of exact C*-algebras. We will briefly discuss the main results and open problems, including recent joint work with M. Choda.
