Constructing CAT(-1) free-by-free groups
by
Andy Miller
University of Oklahoma
Coauthors: Noel Brady (University of Oklahoma)
This is a continuation of the talk by Noel Brady.
We construct classes of examples:
-
(A)
-
of 2-dimensional CAT(-1) groups G which surject onto
free groups with finitely generated but not finitely presented
kernel, and
-
(B)
- of 2-dimensional CAT(-1) free-by-free groups.
The main technique in both constructions involves pre-composing an
appropriately chosen tree valued Morse function with 2-dimensional
domain with an appropriately chosen branched covering. Some specific
examples will be described.
