Nonlinear Lyapunov stability and constrained optimization techniques without multipliers are briefly reviewed in terms of their contrasts and inherent relationships with one another. Then the following examples from the missiles and spacecraft areas are used to illustrate the techniques for both the deterministic and stochastic cases: 1) Phase Lock Loops in Communications, Radar and GPS, 2) State Estimation in Navigation, Guidance and Tracking, 3) Control Laws, 4) Guidance Laws.
