Minimal displacement and retraction problems

We present some new results concerning minimal displacement and retraction problems. In particular we show new estimates of the minimal displacement characteristic of X for some spaces. In the second part we present some constructive examples of lipschitzian retractions R from B to S, where B, S are the closed unit ball and the unit sphere respectively. We also give estimates from below and above of the retraction constant.
