The Institute of Scientific Computing at the University of Technology in Aachen is pursuing the sensitivity-enhancement of CFD codes via computational differentiation techniques in the context of two interdisciplinary research efforts (so-called "Sonderforschungsbereiche" (SFB)). In the context of the SFB540 on "Modelbased Experimental Analysis of Multiphase Fluid Reaction Systems" we are pursuing the differentiation of the SEPRAN CFD code, developed by Gus Segal of the Technical University of Delft, and the FLUENT V4.5 CFD code, developed by Fluent Inc. In the context of the SFB401 on "Airfoil Flow and Aeroelasticity", we are pursuing the differentiation of TFS ("The Flow Solver"), the CFD code developed by the Aerodynamic Institute of the Technical University of Aachen.

All these codes are large, feature-rich CFD codes, and thus present suitable challenges both for the application of ADIFOR 2.1, the verification of the derivatives, as well as subsequent efforts to decrease complexity through high-level insight. In this poster, we give an overview of the current state of our efforts.
