Forcing with well-behaving side conditions

We describe a method of constructing forcings which uses special families included in P\kappa(\lambda) as side conditions. This facilitates forcing constructions of cardinalities bigger than \omega1.

In the second part of the talk we give several applications of this method to infinitary combinatorics (including the solution of Hajnal's problem about uncountable functions), Boolean algebras and Banach spaces.
