Deformations of Pseudorepresentations
by
Emiliano Gomez
University of California at Berkeley

We study the deformation theory of (Wiles) pseudorepresentations. In many cases these have the same universal deformation ring as the 2-dimensional, odd representations they come from (deformations of such representations have been studied by Boston and Mazur, whose ideas we use). We consider the factorization of a pseudorepresentation through an appropriate quotient, resulting in an easier deformation problem from which we can obtain information about the universal deformation ring. Finally (if time allows it) we present a concrete example.
