The "Modularity" conjecture of certain two dimensional varieties
by
Ling Long
The Pennsylvania State University

Motivated by the proof the Shimura-Taniyama-Weil conjecture, I investigate arithmetic of a similar nature for elliptic modular surfaces attached to torsion-free genus zero subgroups of PSL2(Z). For certain elliptic modular surfaces, explicit Weierstrass equations are obtained and the modularity of their Hasse-Weil Zeta functions has been estabilished.
