Combinatorics of maps graphs

Consider the category of graphs and simplicial maps. The traditional tools of algebraic topology are trivial on objects of this category if no simple closed curves are involved. We will discuss a combinatorial-type theory that not only recognizes essential maps of cycles but also perceives essential maps of triods. While no longer algebraic, the theory shows many similarities with the theory of fundamental groups. In particular, we will talk about a map that corresponds to the covering map representing a subgroup of the fundamental group.
