Heaps and corresponding algebraic and geometric structures

This talk deals with a ternary algebraic structure called a heap and its properties. We investigate the connection between a heap (a laterally commutative heap) and corresponding algebraic and geometric structures such as groups, Desargues quasigroups, parallelogram quasigroups, Desargues systems, parallelogram spaces, medial Mal`cev functions, TST-spaces. Some properties of the ternary operation are illustrated on the specific example of a laterally commutative heap in affine plane.
