A Class of Inverse Monoids Acting on Ordered Forests

We introduce a graph of an inverse monoid and its fundamental inverse monoid, which is a generalization of a full amalgamated free product and a full HNN extension.
Using the normal form theorem, we construct an ordered forest on which the fundamental inverse monoid acts. The forest has a certain subgraph called a fundamental domain. Conversely an inverse monoid acting on an ordered forest with a fundamental domain is isomorphic to the fundamental inverse monoid of a certain graph of inverse monoids.
