Groups, Sachs Triangulations and Regular Maps
by
Heinz-Jürgen Voss
Technical University of Dresden

In 1963 H. Sachs developed the concept of desribing finite groups by triangulations of closed oriented surfaces, so called Sachs triangulations. Properties of Sachs triangulations have been investigated since than. With the help of Sachs triangulations embedded graphs and hypergraphs can be lifted to regular maps and regular hypermaps of closed oriented surfaces.
