On the strong covering property of continua

The concept of a minimal closed cover of a continuum, introduced by S. Macias, is investigated. Connections with several related notions are shown, and some questions asked in the literature are answered which concern hereditarily locally connected continua and hereditarily indecomposable ones. Using the concept, we define the strong covering property and we study its connections with related concepts.
