Inverse Limits on [0, 1]
by
W. T. Ingram
University of Missouri--Rolla

Associated with each pair (c, b) of real numbers, 0 < c < 1 and 0 <= b <= 1, is a piecewise linear unimodal map of [0, 1] onto itself which passes through (0, b), (c, 1) and (1, 0). The two-parameter family G of all such maps has a rich dynamics structure and, in parallel, an interesting family of continua which occur as inverse limits on [0, 1] using a single bonding map chosen from G. In this talk we survey results involving these inverse limits and, in addition, discuss the structure of subcontinua of such inverse limits.
