Acceptance of fax inquiries: an empirical study using three banks
by
Thomas Benesch
Assistant Professot

The use of the internet is strongly propagated. This Empirical Study reports, if a inquiry by fax is answered, how long somebody must wait and what actions are necessary.

Our empirical study is restricted to the following banks:

  1. Steiermärkische Bank and Sparkassen Corporation
  2. Mercurbank Corporation (The sole stockholder is General Electric Capital Corporation.)
  3. Volksbank Graz-Bruck registered co-operative with limited liability
Based on this selection, these banks were each sent a fax regularly (one to three weeks). The text is a short description of our interest in their organisation and our desire to speak with the managing director and the employees about it.

In our special empirical study, the responses took longer than 3 weeks. Starting with the second fax sent, the number of inquiries were always explicitly given.
