On inequalities involving resultants
by
Jan-Hendrik Evertse

Denote by R(f, g) the resultant of two polynomials f, g in Z[X]. Let f be a fixed polynomial of degree r with coefficients in Z having no multiple zeros. Thus, if we consider the coefficients of g as variables, R(f, g) is a homogeneous polynomial of degree r in the coefficients of g. We will discuss the Diophantine inequality
0 < |R(f, g)| < H(g)r-c
where the solutions are polynomials g of degree t with coefficients in Z and where c > 0.
