Cubic number fields
by
Helmut Koch
Humboldt University (Berlin)
Our knowledge about quadratic number fields is much better than that about algebraic number fields in general. Cubic fields have an intermediate position in so far as we still have nice algorithms for determing explicitely some basic structures.
In the talk we consider in particular the explicit determination of the ring of integers in cubic fields in its historic context together with some remarks about other questions.
