Groups bicrossed product by automorphisms

We present necessary and sufficient conditions for a pair of groups to be matched by automorphisms (in the sense of Takeuchi). Then we find a number-theoretical equivalent condition for the case when the pair of groups consists of two finite cyclic groups. Finally we show that finite soluble groups which are not p-groups and whose derived subgroups are nilpotent are necessarily bicrossed products by automorphisms.
