Cancelling the exponent in the arithmetic of finite ordered sets

Where A and P are ordered sets (posets), AP denotes the set of all monotone maps from P to A, ordered as a sub-poset of the Cartesian power of |P| copies of A. In 1942, Garrett Birkhoff conjectured that AP isomorphic to BP implies that A is isomorphic with B for finite posets A, B and P. We proved this conjecture early this year. The talk will outline the proof.
