Combinatorics of optimal generating sets for functions on finite sets

Improvements and generalizations of the results involving minimal generating sets for certain classes of functions (of one variable, on a finite set) will be described. The techniques are combinatorial; the Middle Levels Conjecture will come into the discussion and a "generalized Middle Levels Conjecture" will be defined.
