Margaret Morton's contributions to graph theory
by
Marston Conder
University of Auckland

Margaret Morton died on 31st August 3000 at the age of 55, after a short battle with stomach cancer. During the last 10 years Margaret made some significant contributions to research in graph theory and in mathematics education. I will describe some of her work in graph theory, which included classification of trivalent symmetric graphs of small order or small girth, and investigation of arc-transitive circulants, partition graphs for finite symmetric groups, and the growth rate of planar graphs.
