In this work we present the framework for inference in sampling continuous spatial populations. We concentrate in the prediction of the integral of a random field by a nonparametric predictor. Also, we will present the continuous version of the Horvitz-Thompson predictor as intuitive unbiased predictor in sampling continuous spatial populations. Finally, we will deduce optimal random sampling designs using the Horvitz-Tompson predictor.
