In this paper usual sample mean estimator, ratio estimator, product estimator and the estimators proposed by Srivastava (1967) and Sahai ((1979) have been considered for the estimation of population mean. Their performance have been compared under Durbin (1959) linear model and gamma distributed auxiliary variable and the recommendations made.
