Solvability of some integral equations of type Volterra-Stieltjes and their applications

The aim of this paper is to investigate the integral equations of type Volterra-Stieltjes which have the form:

x(t)=f(t, x(t))+ ó õ t 0  u(t, s, x(s)) dsg(t, s)

Using the theory of measures of noncompactness we prove the solvability of such equations in the space of the continuous and bounded functions on R₊ under very general assumptions. Such equations contain a lot of classical nonlinear integral equations as the Chandrasekhar equation, for example.
