Uniformites with invariant bases on proper G-spaces

We consider proper G-spaces X where G is a locally compact group, X a Tychonoff space and the action of G on X has an extra condition of properness. We have proved earlier that if X is metrizable then there is a compatible uniformity on X with an invariant base. In this talk we shall generalize this result for an arbitrary Tychonoff proper G-space X and we show that a compatible uniformity on a proper G-space X admits an invariant base iff the action of G on X is uniformly equicontinuous.
