Decomposition of 3-manifolds in solid tori

We introduce certain types of decomposition of 3-manifolds in solid tori called Singhof fillings (empty boundary) and Seifert unions (non-empty boundary). After finding a classification of such manifolds, we apply it to the study of links of handlebodies in the 3-sphere as well as the study of minimal round functions.
