Strong monotone and nested normality

Strong monotone normality and nested normality, possible strengthenings of monotone normality, are examined. Classes of spaces satisfying, or partially satisfying, these conditions are considered. Results on preservation properties are also presented. A version of the Dugundgi extension theorem is shown for strongly monotonically normal spaces.
