On embedding of chainable continua into the plane
by
Piotr Minc
Auburn University

Suppose X is a chainable continuum and p is point of X. It is unknown whether there is an embedding h of X into the plane such that h(p) is accessible from the complement of h(X) (Nadler and Quinn, 1972). We will discuss partial answers to the question and prove that one may restrict the search for a counterexample, if indeed there exists one, to a considerably simpler class of these chainable continua that can be represented as inverse limits of simplicial arcs with simplicial bonding maps.
