On The (Non-Numeric) Mathematical Foundations of Aeroelasticity
by
A. V. Balakrishnan
UCLA
Despite spectacular achievement in numerical solvers (and perhaps because of it!) some basic questions concerning the nature and existence of solutions to the boundary-value/initial-value problems associated with the field (PDE) equations still remain unresolved. The talk will address some of these, specifically focusing on the workhorse of Aeroelasticity - - the small disturbance velocity potential equations in compressible flow.
