Multiplications in additive compactifications of N.
by

There are several well-known semigroup compactifications of (N, +), for example, the almost periodic, the weakly almost periodic, and the Stone-Cech compactification \betaN. N has a second natural operation, multiplication. This extends to \betaN and although the extended operation has little interaction with the extension of addition the combined structure has combinatorial implications. This talk considers how multiplication might be extended to other compactifications and looks at some properties of the extensions.
