A unified approach to topology, logic, and matroid theory
by
Richard Hodel
Duke University

We use proximity-like axioms (precisely, a relation on X x P(X)) to give a unified approach to fundamental ideas in topology, logic, and matroid theory. This is a variation of work by Kuratowski, Tarski, and Whitney in which fundamental concepts are captured by axioms for a closure operator.
