The analysis of unreplicated experiments from a geometric perspective
by

The analysis of unreplicated factorial experiments is considered from a geometric perspective. The response vector, when centred and scaled to unit length, can be viewed as a point on the unit sphere in the vector space spanned by the contrasts in the saturated model. A model selection procedure is equivalent to a partition of the unit sphere into regions corresponding to the selection of different models. This approach is exploited to gain useful insights into the analysis of unreplicated experiments and to suggest avenues of further research.
