Togo is situated in West Africa. From this region a study of 33 modern pollen samples has been accomplished. The study concerns samples collected in southern Togo near the littoral zone of the Atlantic ocean. In addition to these surface samples, 22 samples of peat from the same region were analysed for pollen. The results from our palynological work in this zone show that percentages of Rhizophora racemosa are very high in peats. The pollen rain in the modern vegetation of mangroves, we indicates presence of sevaral others species such as Avicennia germinans and Drepanocarpus lunatus in high pourcentages.
