Sampling Distribution Of Statistics assumes that sampling is simple and random. This assumption facilitates that all units are identical and have identical distribution function The independence of units simplifies the application of probability theory ,whie, the identical form of distribution fnction for the sampling units reduces the joint distribution to an elegant form.
Simple random sampling is , however not always suitable.the various sampling techniques do exist for improving the precision of an estimator of the population characteristics.Stratified sampling is one of the powerful technique ,frequently used to reduce the variance of some estimator of its mean.In this paper an attempt has been made to obtain the distribution of mean under stratified sampling for rectangular population and to study the fundamental properties of the distribution. The gain in precision due to stratification has also been obtained.
