'Simulating Transects Through Two-Phase Particles'
by
Brian M. Bray
University of Wollongong
The composition of a transect through a two-phase particle has a probability distribution which depends on the shape, composition and phase structure within the particle, as well as the type of randomness used to generate the transect. This talk will illustrate how the transect composition can be simulated in Mathematica for some simple geometric models. In particular, the liberation index suggested by Davy (1984) will be evaluated for two- and three-dimensional models, thereby extending the results of Coleman (1991).
