Extending maps in asymptotic categories
by
Marcin Sawicki
Warsaw Uniwersity

In the paper 'Asymptotic Topology', A. N. Dranishnikov introduced the notion of absolute extensors (AE) and absolute neighborhood extensors (ANE) in asymptotic categories. In this talk we present an alternative proof of the fact that real half-line is an AE in these categories, we give a counterexample to the asymptotic version of the Homotopy Extension Theorem and we state some positive results on extending maps in the case of nonpositively curved or delta-hyperbolic spaces.
