The topos of ``cocommutative coalgebras''
by
Robert Paré
Dalhousie University

The category of cocommutative coalgebras is almost a topos. It is cartesian closed, has disjoint and universal sums, and has a generating set. But it is not a topos because quotients are not stable. We consider a topos which contains coalgebras and preserves the good properties mentioned above. We study what this topos tells us about coalgebras and related structures. We will try to understand what happens when cocommutativity is dropped
